The CNHA offers visitors the opportunity to tour the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge during the months of April to November. The tour accesses areas of the refuge that are normally only open to foot traffic. The tour covers approximately 15 miles and lasts about 90 minutes. Each tour is accompanied by a knowledgeable interpreter/guide. The tour is designed to provide visitors with an experience that is both educational and entertaining. Through this program, CNHA hopes to foster a deeper understanding of refuge resources, programs, and activities. During the tour, the interpreter/guide will provide insight and answer questions about the wildlife and ecology of the refuge.
The bus has a capacity of 30 visitors and is air-conditioned for visitor comfort. The tour bus is also equipped with a wheelchair lift to enhance accessibility. The fee for the tour is $12.00 for adults and $6.00 for children under 12. During the months of April - June and September - November, adult CNHA members may tour the refuge for the discounted fee of $8.00.
