Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge News

Motorists, Beware of Those Scampering Squirrels!!

As we welcome spring and the accompanying increase in the number of visitors to the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, we urge you to be aware of the endangered Delmarva Fox Squirrels.  Please be careful when driving on the refuge so the population of these critters can continue to increase.  Kate White, co-editor of Wild Pony Tales, has written an excellent article about the fox squirrels.  For her writeup on this important issue, please click on the picture to the right.
